Backup error - "Last backup failed due to following error:Access is denied. (0x80070005)
Have yet to create a successful backup on Win 7 beta.I have checked the permissions and have even changed the drive letter to z:I can navigate the folder structure fine.Any clues?jfJimmy Fallon Computer Assistance www.mainstreetchatham.com

Have you tried to take ownership of the folder that you're trying to save the backup to? - John

What drive did you change to Z:? Is this an external drive that has the same or more capacity as your OS drive?

have 3 external drives. 2 serial, 1 usb. All three have same problem. Have taken ownership yes. the Z: drive is one I wish to backup to, it is freshly fully reformatted 1 terabyte.Jimmy Fallon Computer Assistance www.mainstreetchatham.com

Hi jimmyfal,I assume your issue is not with the backup target.I would need the backup traces to make conclusions. Can you pl. collect the backup traces under %windir%\Logs\WindowsBackup and send them across to lokkum_at_microsoft_dot_com (pl. remove _'s and also correct the expansion for at & dot to get to my mail ID).A screenshot of the 'Backup and Restore' control panel would also help.Thanks,Lokkum [MSFT]

Did we ever get a answer to this? I am having the same problem on Windows Vista tring to backup to the E:\ drive you start the backup and right away it says backup faild! Thanks for any help Joe
